Grateful. Disgusted. Proud. Embarrassed. The Yale Alumni Magazine’s recent cover story “Why They Call Yale The Gay Ivy” sparked a furor among its readers, igniting a larger controversy about homophobia, tradition and the generational divide in our country today. Out of this vehement and diverse alumni response was born The Gay Ivy, a musical theater collage featuring work by more than a dozen writers and composers: roommates reminisce about their parallel yet isolated lives fifty years ago; two women wake up in each others’ arms; one of the first African-American alumnae confesses her own struggle to embrace her son’s lifestyle; a legacy-student confronts his grandfather’s hatred and his own conflicted sexual identity.

Please join us for this One Night Only event at Dixon Place, NYC’s Downtown Laboratory for Performance. The show is followed by a Talkback with Director and Cast members -- after which there will be drinks at the Facilities Bar (Upstairs) at Dixon Place.

Featuring Yale GALA's Thomas Dolan, Emily Jenda, Kobi Libii, Megan Stern and Jared Weiss and directed by Yale GALA's Ethan Heard.
